Lofree Flow 2: The Low-Profile Standard, Refined

The MacBook Pro of Mechanical Keyboards

What does it take to elevate a keyboard that already redefined low-profile design? A series of thoughtful upgrades, with a build quality that feels better than ever. That’s the mission behind the Lofree Flow 2—a successor built on years of feedback to create a truly complete low-profile typing experience. Taking the best of the original and systematically improving it, the Flow 2 is the streamlined, highly anticipated sequel.

Desktop centerpiece. Productivity tool. Style statement. Often called the "MacBook Pro of mechanical keyboards," the Flow 2 is crafted from a single block of CNC-machined aluminum to deliver that same premium feel. The chassis features a micro-textured surface from a 205-grit anodized zirconium sandblasting process, giving it an exceptionally smooth, metallic finish. It’s a keyboard that looks as good as it feels to type on.

The Evolution of Flow

The original Flow set a new standard. The Flow 2 perfects it. Based on extensive community feedback, Lofree engineered several key changes to this second-generation standout—including a capacitive touch bar, full VIA customization, and true tri-mode wireless.

Capacitive Touch Bar

In place of a traditional volume knob, a capacitive touch bar is integrated into the right-side bezel. A simple swipe up or down adjusts system volume or screen brightness, keeping the keyboard's profile sleek and intuitive.

Full QMK / VIA Customization

The Flow 2 adds support for VIA, the powerful and user-friendly configuration tool. Remap any key, build complex macros, and customize layers on the fly, with all changes saved directly to the keyboard's onboard memory.

Integrated Dual-Angle Feet

While the original offered a single flat angle, the Flow 2 features built-in flip-out kickstands. Effortlessly toggle between a 0° (flat) and 7° (angled) typing height to find your perfect posture.

True Tri-Mode Connection

Go beyond Bluetooth. The Flow 2 supports a high-performance 2.4GHz wireless connection for gaming-grade input, alongside Bluetooth 5.3 for up to three devices and a wired USB-C mode for charging and zero-latency use.

A Softer, Quieter Foundation

To truly understand the benefits of the Flow 2, you have to feel it. The first thing you’ll notice is its sturdiness. As opposed to plastic alternatives that rattle as you type, this board features a rock-solid aluminum case for maximum stability.

Inside, a cantilever gasket mount uses flexible rubber gaskets to cushion every keystroke, eliminating harsh bottom-outs for a soft, springy feel. You’ll also hear the effect of the custom-molded 3D acoustic foam, meticulously placed to absorb unwanted high-frequency echo while keeping a rich, deep sound profile. Pre-lubricated stabilizers ensure the spacebar and other large keys press down evenly, without any rattle.

Self-Lubricating, Low-Profile Switches

The Flow 2 comes equipped with full-POM (Polyoxymethylene) low-profile switches, co-developed with Kailh. Because the entire switch—from the stem to the housing—is made of POM, the components are self-lubricating. They grow smoother and more consistent the more you use them. The hot-swappable board allows you to change switches at any time, with a proprietary Kailh low-profile pin layout engineered to a precise 0.04mm tolerance.

Built to Last, Down to the Keycaps

The typing experience is topped with premium keycaps made from double-shot PBT and PC. The PBT material provides a matte, oil-resistant surface that won’t develop a “shine” over time. The double-shot process uses translucent PC for the legends, allowing the crisp white backlight to shine through each character for perfect visibility in any lighting. Lofree even redesigned the switch housings with a light-guide hole 3.2x larger than before, making the backlighting brighter and more even.

Questions & Specifications

Questions & Answers

Is this keyboard hot-swappable?

Yes, it is. However, it is only compatible with Lofree x Kailh low-profile switches due to the proprietary pin layout. It is not compatible with standard MX-style switches.

Does it work well with macOS?

Absolutely. The Flow 2 was designed with Mac users in mind, replicating the physical spacing and layout of Apple's keyboards for a seamless transition. It is fully compatible with macOS, iPadOS, and iOS, as well as Windows and Android.

What is the difference between the switches?

Surfer (Linear) is smooth from top to bottom, with no bump. It's best for fast typing and gaming. Pulse (Tactile) has a noticeable "bump" in the middle of the keypress, which provides satisfying feedback. It's great for typists who want to feel each keystroke. Void (Silent Linear) is a linear switch with internal dampeners to reduce noise, making it ideal for quiet environments.

What is VIA and why is it useful?

VIA is a powerful software that lets you customize your keyboard's layout without needing to code or flash firmware. You can easily change what each key does, create shortcuts for complex actions (macros), and set up different layers for different applications, like one for typing and another for a design program.
